Luke Barnard:
Luke was a Justice of the Inferior Court in 1820. By 1830, he had moved his family to Macon Co., NC, probably the part that later became Cherokee Co., NC as he was enumerated on the 1840 census there. In 1850, Luke was living with his granddaughter in Union Co., GA. Prior to coming to Rabun County, Luke lived first in Pendleton Dist., SC, where he was probably born, and then in Buncombe Co., NC.

Gideon Beck, 2nd Land District:
Gideon was in Pendleton Dist., SC in 1810, but was not enumerated in the 1820 census for that district. In 1826, he sold land in Lot 19 of the 2nd Land District of Rabun Co., GA. Information on his wife, Sarah, was taken from the 1850 Census of Lumpkin Co., GA. (Marian Miller)

Samuel Beck, 3rd Land District:
Samuel's son, John, was born in 1819 in GA. On 16 Jan 1821, Samuel witnessed a deed for his brother, Solomon, in Rabun Co., GA. In January 1823, Samuel purchased Lot 4 in the 3rd Land District of Rabun County. (Marian Miller)

Solomon Beck, 2nd Land District:
On 16 Jan 1821, Solomon purchased Lot 21 in the 2nd Land Dist. of Rabun Co., GA, which was witnessed by Sam Beck and John Langston. (Marian Miller)

Charles Gates, Sr., 2nd Land District:
Charles Gates, Sr. was a Justice of the Inferior Court in 1820. On 12 Jan 1821, he bought Lot 135 in the 2nd Land Dist. of Rabun Co., GA, witnessed by Andrew Miller and John T. Daniel. Charles sold this land 11 Sep 1821 (not 1822) to William Gillespie of Burke Co., NC. By 1830, Charles had moved to Gwinnett Co., GA.

Willis Gilly:
Willis was one of the men selected by the Georgia State Legislature in 1819 as a Commissioner to supervise elections of early county officials. By 1830, he had moved on to Carroll Co., GA. He later moved to Paulding Co., GA. Willis married in 1815 in Franklin Co., GA to Elizabeth (whose maiden name is listed variously as Holcomb and Thompson). They may have been enumerated on the 1820 Census for Habersham Co., GA.

John Langston:
John and his family were in Pendleton Dist., SC in November 1818, but had left by 1820. John witnessed a deed for Solomon Beck on 16 Jan 1821 in Rabun Co., GA. (Marian Miller)

Andrew Miller, General, 2nd Land District:
Gen. Miller recorded many of the earliest land transactions in this county, beginning early in 1821. He purchased Lot 180 in the 2nd Land Dist. on 01 Aug 1821, but is believed to have been in this county much earlier.

Shadrack Morris:
Shadrack was one of the men selected by the Georgia State Legislature in 1819 as a Commissioner to supervise elections of early county officials. He served a term as Sheriff from 1820 to 1821. Shadrack moved to DeKalb Co., GA by 1830, then moved again to Cherokee Co., GA by 1840, where he apparently lived out the remainder of his days.

Tillman Powell, 5th Land District:
Tillman (also spelled "Tilghman") was a Senator in the Georgia Legislature in 1820 from Rabun County. His daughter, Malinda, married Capt. Robert Milligan here in October 1820, believed to be the earliest marriage performed in the county. Tillman purchased Lot 91 in the 5th Land Dist. on 05 Dec 1820. He and his family remained in this area until at least 1830 before moving on. Tillman is believed to be a brother to Edley Powell and Jefferson Powell.

Drewry Wall, 3rd Land District:
Drewry was in Pendleton Dist., SC in 1810, but had left by 1820. In August 1823, he bought Lot 20 in the 3rd Land Dist. of Rabun Co., GA. (Marian Miller)
