For example, if you were looking for Henry Cannon, click on the "C" in the index below. Scroll down to "CANNON" and there you will find: "Henry 324:122", meaning there was a Henry Cannon enumerated on page 324 of the online census in household 122. If you see a page number such as "ss1", "ms1", "as1", or "is1", you'll know that that person was enumerated on a schedule other than the free population schedule. The suffixes for the page numbers are as follows:

• as = Agriculture Schedule
• is = Industrial Schedule
• ms = Mortality Schedule
• ss = Slave Schedule

Be sure to check the main page for the availability of these schedules online. Please DO NOT send queries to the transcriber about when the schedules will be placed online or where microfilm copies of the census may be located.

This index applies only to the census housed here. Other censuses may be numbered differently (for instance, for the population schedules, the USGenWeb Census Project begins the page on the left-hand side of the book; I started numbering the pages from the right-hand side). However, the household numbers will not change from one transcription to the next and can be used to locate individuals in other copies of the 1850 census for Rabun County.
