Confederate Petitions 1862 - 1865 is located in the Probate Judge's office in the Rabun County courthouse in Clayton, GA. The book contains lists of pensions received by four categories of former soldiers or widows: Disabled or invalid soldiers, Indigent soldiers, Widows of deceased soldiers, or Indigent widows.
Several adjustments were made to the original record for space considerations. For instance, the time of enlistment was originally spelled out; here it is given numerically. A day or month given as "00" means no day or month was specified in the original document. Quotation marks were not used by the person who recorded these pensions; they are used here to signify exact quotes of the original document.
Abbreviations: OR SC=Orr's Rifles, SC; HA SC=Heavy Artillery, SC.
