State of Georgia, Oglethorpe County
Know all men by these presents that I, Thos. J. Stamps of the county and state aforesaid for & in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Chas. Gates Senr. of Rabun County the rect. whereof is hearby acknowledged have granted barganed & sold to the said Gates all that lot of land lying in the Second Dist. of Rabun County known by No. 135 bounded E. by 136 Dist. by 134 N. 146 S. by 118 which said lot together with all & singular [the?] primesy in any wise thereunto belonging. I bind myself my heirs executors administrators [OC?] to warrant & defend in fee simple all & singular the said lot No. 135 to the [illegible] Charley Gates Senr. his heirs [OC?] forever & in testimony of which I have hearunto set my hand & seal the 12th day of Jany. 1821 & in the forty fifth year of the Independence of the U. S. A. signed in presence of A. Miller, John T. Daniel, witnesses. Signed Thos. J. Stamps.
