The Revolutionary War

Because Rabun County was not created until well after the Colonies' break from England, none of the soldiers listed herein were residents of Rabun County when they gave service in the Revolutionary War. Many, in fact, came not from Georgia but from the nearby states of North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Their names were gathered from several sources, namely the 1840 census of Rabun County, records from the Georgia Land Lotteries, Sketches of Rabun County History by Andrew Jackson Ritchie, and the research of descendants of these soldiers.

The purpose of this site is to promote interest in the early settlers of Rabun County, to facilitate contact between researchers interested in these families, and to provide a place where researchers can learn about the Revolutionary War era. Documentation on these individuals is sorely needed. If you would like to contribute records or submit a biography on one of the soldiers, please e-mail me.
