1860 Mortality Schedule

Persons who died during the year ending 1st June 1860. Enumerated by M. Fain. His handwriting was, at times, scribbly and somewhat difficult to read. Question marks denote entries that were hard to read. Additionally, dashes (--) indicate that a certain part of an entry was illegible.

No dates or enumeration districts were given on this schedule and, in fact, the county wasn't even written into the appropriate line. There were only two pages, with 35 lines each, both completely full. Totals are listed at the bottom of each page.

The first column denotes the line number of each entry. The remaining columns from left to right are:

  1. Name of every person who died during the year ending 1st June 1860, whose usual place of abode at the time of death was in this family
  2. Age
  3. Sex [m, f]
  4. Color - white, black, or mulatto [w, b, m]
  5. Free or Slave [f, s]
  6. Married or Widowed [m, w]
  7. Place of Birth, naming the State, Territory, or Country
  8. The month in which the person died
  9. Profession, Occupation or Trade
  10. Disease or cause of death
  11. Number of days ill
