Will of Adam Watson, 1841


Note: This is the only record I could find regarding the estate of Adam Watson on my last visit to the courthouse in Waynesville. Some punctuation was added.


Haywood Co., NC, Will Book 1/2, p. 18

September term 1841
State of North Carolina, Haywood County, in the year of our Lord 1841, in the name of God, Amen, this my last will and testament. I, Adam Watson, being very low in health but in my proper mind this 9 day of June, I have a desire to make my last will & Testament. First, I submit my body to the dust and soul to God who give it to me and my Estate as follows. As for debts, I aw nothing. It is my will that my wife Catherine Watson shall have the Land her lifetime and at her death there shall be fifty acres of my land Reserved for my son James Watsons children.

My stock of cattle, hogs and horses and sheep shold be kept for the use of my family. It is my wish that my son John Watson and my son Elias Watson shold act as my Executors.
