This list of cemeteries is, of course, incomplete. Links are provided for online cemeteries with credit being given as to their source, excepting those housed in the USGenWeb Archives that I surveyed. If you know of other cemeteries in Macon County, know the locations of the ones below, or would like to put a survey online, please e-mail me for further information.
I have started putting the Historical Records Surveys online for some of the smaller family cemeteries which are in danger of being lost, or which have already been destroyed by time or the devices of man. Most of these surveys were made in the late 1930s and early 1940s by Horace J. Hurst. Links to current surveys will be available from the HRS, and vice versa, where such is applicable.
Some of the smaller cemeteries may contain "maps" or plats of how the grave sites and/or tombstones are laid out in relation to one another. Please remember that these are only rough guidelines and not exact maps.
Many thanks to the people who have helped make this project a reality, including, but not limited to: Lea Holland, Willadean Holland, Glenda Dills, Maxine Caldwell, Linda Watson, John Andrews, Tom McConnell, Marcie Roper, Jim Wood, Mary Bryant, David L. Snyder, Gayle Ashbach, Barbara White, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Jennings, the Wilson family of Otto, Rosa Lee Webb Munch, Dave and Connie, Jean, Haze Edwards, Richard Young, Chris Holland, and anyone else I may have forgotten (the memory lapse is not on purpose!).
Please note that this search engine will only sort through the cemeteries housed on this web site, and that it will only pick up cemeteries that were added to this site more than 30 days prior to the search date.
