Angel Cemetery
Macon Co., NC

Surveyed March 7, 2005

Directions: From the intersection of Highways 441 and 64 near McDonald's in Franklin, take Hwy. 64 Eastbound toward Sylva. Turn right at the next road (not a regular exit), going toward Macon Middle School. When that road dead ends, turn left. At the end of this road, turn right onto Wells Grove Church Road. From here, you can access the cemetery two ways:

1) Go straight on Wells Grove Church Rd. Turn right onto Angel Cove Road. Turn Right onto Hunnicutt Road. After the second curve to the left is a house on the right (269 Hunnicutt Road). If you go a little past this house, look to your right. At the top of the hill, you'll see the cemetery in a clearing surrounded by a fence. You can park (but not at 269) and walk up from Hunnicutt Road.

2) Take a right onto Clark's Chapel Road. Take a left onto Long Road. Not far down that road, you'll see a pink house on the left and then directly after that a little sign that says "Jennings" which may be a good parking place. From here, the cemetery is at the top of the hill and to your left behind the pink house.

Beware of cows, and ask permission to park if you're unsure. There is a gate to the fence which surrounds the cemetery. Several stones were overturned, but the cemetery was in a remarkably good state given its age. There are several sunken places that are the approximate size and shape of a grave, which may be unmarked burial places.

The following record reflects the actual writing on the tombstone. The graves were laid out (approximately) and surveyed as follows:
