Buck Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery
Macon Co., NC

Surveyed March 4, 2001 and April 14, 2001

Directions: from the red light at the junction of Hwy. 441 business and Highlands Road (Hwy. 64) in downtown Franklin (Hardee's is at this intersection), take the Highlands Road (Hwy. 64) toward Highlands and go 7.8 miles. Take a left on Buck Creek Road and go 4.7 miles. Go right on Buck Creek Church Road and follow that road 3/10 of a mile to the cemetery. You will pass the church a bit before you see the cemetery.

Note: There were numerous unmarked graves in this cemetery. Most were marked with small, upright stones at the head and/or foot and sometimes also with artificial flowers. Any listing such as "small stone" means that I believed that stone marked a grave.

UPDATE (July 27, 2001): Several people contacted me about unmarked graves in this cemetery. Notes follow each unmarked grave as to whom is believed to be buried there. Also, Joanne Hunt believes that her great-grandparents, William and Jemima Evatt, were buried at Buck Creek, but is unsure which graves are theirs.
