     Siler who died Sept. 2nd 1870  Aged 40 years  His life was a 
     "patient continuance in well doing" which wearied not nor
     fainted. He was a devoted husband and an affectionate son and
     father.

In memory of Jesse Wimar Siler  Born June 29th 1838  Died Nov. 9th
     1862  He fell at his post. Friendship had no brighter ornament;
     filial duty no more truthful example; affection no more zealous
     devotee; patriotism no braver model; chivalry no more hightoned
     advocate; scorning a mean action, he was the soul of honor and
     his generosity was liberal to a fault. [A?] member of 
     Junaluskee Lodge No. 145 A.F.M. Among the first to volunteer in
     Co. H 16th N.C.T.; he was elected Junior Second Lieutenant of
     Co. K 1st N.C. Cavalry. Where he won the esteem and confidence
     of his comrades and men by his noble daring and undaunted 
     courage. In a skirmish near Gaines Cross Roads in Va., he paid
     the lavish forfeit of his life. His last words were "Come on
     boys."
