Many of the soldiers listed on these pages resided and/or enlisted in an area other than Macon County including, but not limited to, other counties in the Western North Carolina region. If you suspect that your ancestor served in the CSA but they are not listed here, try looking through the rosters of companies that enlisted in neighboring counties.

Approximately 16% of the men who enlisted in Co. K, 9th Regt. NC Troops (1st Regt. NC Cavalry), CSA were "rejected by Colonel Baker". Several of those men appear to have later enlisted in other companies from Macon County.
