Mr. Wm. Angel, of Andrews, came over to Franklin Friday.

Dr. J. H. Fouts has removed his shingle from Glenville to Robbinsville, N.C.

Mr. R. L. Porter and two daughters left Thursday to visit relatives in Tennessee.

Hon. K. Elias was in Washington last week looking after the District Attorneyship.

Rev. D. H. Comann went to Asheville last Friday and returned with his little daughter Saturday from the Pease School.

A. B. and J. C. Dalton, of Cowee, moved to Hayesville last week, where they will open a furniture business. We wish them success.

Mr. W. T. Potts has finished a very neat addition to his store to be used as a warehouse.

Mrs. Elisabeth Daves, of Burningtown, died at 10 o'clock last Wednesday at the age of 97 years.

Rev. R. E. Lentz and family went up to Mr. Elam Slagle's last Thursday and returned Monday.

Solicitor Geo. A. Jones left home Saturday for Transylvania court which is in session this week.

Miss Margie Hood returned home Monday from a month's visit to her aunt, Mrs. R. J. Roane at Bushnell.

The Franklin Library Club will meet in the room over Mr. E. H. Frank's store next Friday evening at 7:30 o'clock.

Mr. John Ledford, of Skeenah, about three miles from Franklin, died of heart disease at 3 o'clock last Sunday at the age of a little over 70 years.

Death of Mr. W. A. McCoy.

Mr. W. A. McCoy, of Dillsboro, died about one o'clock last Thursday. His remains were brought to Franklin Friday evening and buried at 11 o'clock Saturday by the side of his first wife in the Baptist cemetery. Mrs. McCoy, his second wife, Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Tennant, Thomas McCoy, of Asheville, and Charles and General McCoy, and Miss Emma McCoy, of Dillsboro, accompanied the remains. Mr. McCoy was 67 years of age at the time of his death. He lived a great many years in Franklin before removing to Dillsboro.

By virtue of an execution to me directed from the superior court of Macon County, in the above entitled action I will, on Monday of court week, the 8th day of May, 1893, at 12 oclock M., at the courthouse door in said county, sell to the highest bidder for cash that part of the William Shepherd farm on the waters of Cowee in said county, which was sold and laid off to the defendant, Martha Shepherd, bounded as follows; on the east by W. R. Merritt's land, on the South by Jane Shepherd's lot; on the West by Bettie Shepherd's land and on the North by J. W. Shepherd's land to satisfy said execution issued upon a judgement rendered for the purchase money of said land. April [3?], 1893

By virtue of an execution directed to the Sheriff of Macon County, from the Superior Court of said county, in the above entitled action I will, on Monday of court week, the 8th day of May, 1893, at 12 o'clock M. at the Court House Door in said county, sell to the highest bidder for cash the following described lands, to wit; that part of the William Shepherd farm on the waters of Cowee which was sold and laid off to the defendant Jane Shepherd, bounded on the East by W. B. Merritt's land, on the South by a lot belonging to R. H. Hall, on the West by Bettie [Sheffield's?] land and on the North by Martha Shepherd's lot, to satisfy said execution issued upon a Judgment rendered for the purchase of said lot of land and for cost.
