Aslun & when we got to Charles town the British army had surrounded the town & we took shipping about 11 miles above the town I was under the command of Col. Mabary was sent to about 9 miles from town river to keep the 458 British from coming into the town & I was taken a prisoner at the fall of Charlestowm & I was par roled by the British to go home on the 20 of May 1780 J months while in garrison marching to & from & while a prisoner General Lincoln & Gen Green was there & Gen M I was a private my J I enter at Mecklenburg N C drafted & was a light horseman & a private in the year 1781 or the part of 1782 under the command of Capt. Polk Maj. Joseph Graham Col. Smith & Gen. Rutherfird narched from about Fayitville them Creek & to Brunswick after the ---- Willington & while there learn of the capture of Cornwallace - County By Fayitville& RandolphCountyto Mecklin burg J months I was out a J months time before I Of the British against the Cherokee Indians as a private service was performed about the time I was 20 years of age and I think it was in 1777 but it might of been the winter of 1776 under the command of Capt. Mac Duvall & Gen. Rotherford march from Mecklenburg out into the Cherokee mation which was in the now the counties of Bun comb, Haywood, & Macon. All my service was performed as a private & for which service I clain a pension further this that his paper was amended after being returned by the dep artment for further & return as he 459 ~ ) to the directors of the department last 18JJ & have never been heard from since & it is presumed that the and if so I hope this will suffice without going thru the regular course in Court again. I do hereby relinquish all other claim to a pension in any state or any agency whatsoever making in all not lass than twelve months if I am entitlrd to a pension for the J months against the indians & if not 9 months as a pr ivate in testimony where of I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 2J day of May 18J4. his W.W.
