FRANCES A. MILLS

Frances A. Synder was born in Courtland, New York, August 12, 1842. Here she grew to young womanhood and was maried to Robert Mills in 1863. In 1866 the young couple moved to Whiteside County, Illinois. In 1881 the family came to CIark County, South Dakota Territory. There were five sons; Theodore, who died in infancy, Wiliam, lately deceased. Frank, of Clark, Charles, of Mitchell, and James, of Lemmon; also an adopted daughter, Mrs. Mable Luther. The husband and father passed away December 2, 1917.

Mrs. Mills joined the Methodist church in 1870, thus rounding out nearly 65 years of membership. She was active in the various enterprises of the church until advancing age and impaired hearing prevented.

She was a charter member of the W.C.T.U. and maintained an active interest in its progress all these years.

Grandma Mills, in spite of her 92 years, possessed a clear and active mind. Although it was difficult for her to hear, she enjoyed association with friends and neighbors, and kept a close account of present day affairs.

Although she enjoyed life here, she was ready and willing when her time came, to dwell with the redeemed in the "House of many mansions."

She will be greatly missed by sons, daughter, relatives and friends.
