CHARLES F. KURTH

Charles F. Kurth was born December 1st, 1855 in Germany. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at the age of fourteen and remained a member all of his life.

He came to America in 1847, landing at Columbus, Wisconsin on October 21 of that year, where he lived until he came to Dakota Territory in 1882. He went into business in 1886 and continued for 27 years.

He was married to Louise Schoenwether, at Lake Preston on October 25, 1887. Two children were born, Flora Louise and John Frederick.

Mr. Kurth's health had been poor for some time. There were alternating periods of artivity and enforced idleness. Only last week he was about his usual occupations when he was stricken with an acute ailment and taken to the hospital at Watertown, where he passed away peacefully, at 11:48, Tuesday evening.

He was a kind husband and father, a good neighbor and his passing will be regretted by all who knew him.

He leaves to mourn his passing one brother, Frank Kurth of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Aldridge of Chicago, Mrs. Rieka Baumann of Watertown, Wisconsin and Mrs. Amelia Bose of Waterloo, Wisconsin.

The funeral was conducted at the home by Rev. Page of the Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. J. T. O'Neill of the Congregational church and Rev. Vold of the Lutheran Church. Internment was made in the Rose Hill Cemetary of Clark.
