My SULLIVAN relatives, Daniel & Julia, first settled in Lake County, SD by purchasing a homestead, the SW 1/4 section 20, Twsp 108, Range 53, in Badus Township on May 21, 1880, from Martin M. Olsen. Daniel, 48, Julia, 38, Edward, 17, William, 13, Daniel, 10, Frank, 8, Thomas, 6, Joseph, 4, James, 3, Julia, 1, and Robert, 2 months, SULLIVAN had travelled from Sherrill, Iowa where Daniel had originally settled with his parents, Dennis & Julia SULLIVAN. Daniel & Julia were among the original families of the area & helped build the new St. Williams Catholic Church in Ramona in 1899. Their son, Edward had married by then to Adelaide HERKES, and they too were part of the original families to help build the church. Next they purchased the SE 1/4 Section 19, Twsp 108, Range 53, from the Iowa & Dakota Land Company on Oct. 1, 1891. On Dec. 21, 1893, their son, Edward, purchased the 1/4 Section 19, Twsp 108, N Range 53containing 160 acres from his parents, Daniel & Julia SULLIVAN
