|Dewey County, which is located in the north central part of the state was created from Indian
Reservation land, Armstrong in 1910. Dewey was formed from unorganized territory in 1873 and originally named Rusk, but changed the name to Dewey in 1883. Dewey County was organized in 1910. The county seat is Timber Lake.
