Copper Camp, Pennington county, South Dakota


A name that was locally applied to the community that sprang up around the turn of the century around the Black Hills Copper Company. The held claims to the Solnar, Bee, climax and Copper Reefs No. 1 and No. 2. they shipped around 800 tons of ore prior to 1917 and 38 more tons yielded 2.34 ounces of gold and 6.12 percent copper to the ton, were gleaned from the surface workings and dumps.
