Neighbors, I am pleased to be able to share the following lists of members of the Rocky Point Methodist Church Sunday School.  The first column is the name as recorded.  The second column is the "State of Life" as reported by the list. (Some were blank.)  We assume this means married, single or widower(d).  Notes are as entered in the register, except if enclosed in brackets they are my comments. In 1850-1851, almost every name had a small cross beside it and obviously did not refer to the death of the individual.  In one case the term "Exp" was beside the name and in that case the person had died within the year.The Rocky Point Methodist Church was located in Southwestern Cannon County, Tennessee, near the communities of Bert, Bergan and Bradyville on land donated by James SISSOM where Duck Branch runs into Carson's Fork Creek.  It is a list of those persons who attended the Sunday School during those years.  In addition, some have notes regarding death, removal, joining or some other such action.  Some records have additional goodies. May I encourage you to compare the lists!  The names are in the same order as recorded in the book and reflect changes that may lead to identification of dates of marriage, moving or death within a certain range.  In some cases the first name was in the same relative position within the record, but the last name has changed and the "State of Life" has changed from "S" to "M". In comparing the various lists, I find the person who is leading the class always had "CL" beside his name. So I would infer from that it means "class leader".
