There were so many students at this time the first grades went to school in two sessions, morning and afternoon. We are fortunate to have pictures of both sessions for 1949-1950.

~ ANNOTATIONS ~ Robert Womack, the first student in the afternoon class picture, is the son of Mrs. Hudson (Elizabeth Duckworth) Womack who at 82 years of age is the oldest licensed teacher in the state of Tennessee and she is still teaching! She was my Latin and Bible teacher. YES, once The Bible was taught as literature in schools. LJH, 2008
Janice McGiboney, the last little girl in thr afternoon class picture, was for many years the Style Editor of the Southern Standard! She is the daughter of Omar and Kathleen Haston McGiboney and married James Howard. LJH, 2008
