Wesley Chapel School, 1893
CAN YOU REMEMBER the former Wesley Chapel School before the turn of the century. Quite a few are still around who do For example, Longtime McMinnville Superin- tendent of Schools J.L. Nunley, the top of whose head can be seen at the lower right of this picture made in the year 1893. Nunley, it is said, was too young to go to school at the time, but had attended on this day to have his picture made. He was seated on a couple of pieces of wood to bring him up to the height of the others in the front row. From left to right are: First row - George Cunningham, Charlie Cunningham, ___ick Smartt, Park Sain, Lewis Cunningham, Paul Anthony, ___xie Anthony and J.L. Nunley, only the top of the later's head showing. Second row - Mary Pointer, Eillie Pointer, Ella Pointr, Tom Pointer, Clarcio Cunningham, Fannie Cunningham, Lulu Nunley, Oshie Odell, Dona Sain and Grace Sain. Third row - Ethel Hancock, Laura Tate, Emma Cook, Maud Pointer, Berdie Sain and Myrtle Mabry. Fourth row - Lank Greeze, Frank Smartt, Gilford Hancock, Mack Smartt, Rice Hancock, unifdentified, Molly Tate, Cora Lewis and little sister, Alice. Fifth row - George Mabry, Professor Elder, the teacher, and Charlie Hancock. The picture is the property of Mrs. Tom Pointer of Route 2, Morrison.
