Tennessee Local History Network
Webmaster Guidelines and
Information
Hello and welcome! The
Tennessee Local History Network is the central point of entry to web sites
that deal specifically with Tennessee genealogy and history.
If you already have a web site or would like to create a web site for
the purpose of helping others in the area of Tennessee genealogy and
history you're at the right place! Please read the following information:
What is required?
- A love of history and genealogy.
- A willingness to share information on a web site.
- The ability to create web sites.
- Please read about the mission and purpose of the TNLHN.
- Please read about the ALHN. You will want to visit the Mission page
and the About ALHN page.
General County, Town or
Topic Requirements
- You must obtain your own webspace. You are free to get web space
from whomever you choose. Many of the ALHN webmasters do use USGenNet.org because they offer free
space to all ALHN-affiliated webmasters.
- You must provide a link back to either the county (for town
webmasters) or the state (for county webmasters). You may also provide a
link to the national web pages if you wish, but it is not required.
- A logo is required. National logos are provided on the ALHN Graphics page. For
those that like to create graphics, you are also welcome to create your
own. The logos must contain either "ALHN" or "American Local History
Network". Some TNLHN logos are found on the TNLHN graphics page.
- Your site contain some original content and not be a page primarily
of links.
- You must respect copyright law. If you have any questions regarding
copyright, please see U.S. Copyright
Office
- All web pages must be child-safe sites. In other words, no
pornography or obscene subject matter, photos or otherwise.
For Your Information
- The information listed above are the requirements for you to
Volunteer for the Great State of Tennessee! Other than this, your web
site associated with the TNLHN and ALHN is an independent site and
therefore is yours to create and maintain.
- Once you have decided to adopt a county, town or topic please
contact Sharon McCormack.
Please put TNLHN in the subject line.
