A few years ago my sister and I found our Borland/Craig family Bible in the Martinez Museum, Martinez, CA. Since it is located in our great-great-great uncle Robert Borland's former home, we were not able to have it. This Bible should be available for family members to view. Recently a family member went to the museum and was told there was no such Bible there. We are hoping this was a new helper who did not know the contents of the house. This Bible belonged to John and Jean Howatt Borland who came from Scotland and were early miners in the California Gold Rush, also owning hotels in Foresthill, CA and Rye Patch, NV. Their sons, Jim and Robert, were early businessmen in Martinez. Jim's father-in-law built the house that is now Martinez Museum. It was originally his dentist office, but was left to his daughter (Jim's wife. They sold it to brother Robert Borland who was the first president of the local bank and brought telephones to the area. The Bible was brought to the museum many years ago by a relative of Robert's who did not know he had an older sister with many descendants up in Washington.

George S. Robinson, Jr.
I have a family Bible described by the donor to me, her second
cousin as follows:
"This Bible was purchased in England by Asa Richardson, in 1770 as a wedding present for his Daughter, Hannah Richardson Reed, at a cost of $100.00. At her death it was given to her son, Barzilla Reed, and is now the property of his great grand daughter, Katherine Wellman Ross (my second cousin). In 1874 S. Elizabeth Wellman had it rebound, at that time having pages inserted between the APOCRYPHA and the NEW TESTAMENT for her own family records, while the older records had been written between the OLD TESTAMENT and the APOCRYPHA."
This Bible was given to me, George Sutherland Robinson, Jr., in January, 1969. I will look up any of the Reed and Wellman records on request.

Ten years ago my husband and I went to Hollidaysberg PA to meet a cousin of his father's, a wonderful lady named Mable Rush. At the time she was 95. While there she gave me the page she had from her great grandfathers bible. I told her she had 3 sons, why didn't she give it to them, and she said they were not interested in genealogy, and if they ever got interested that I should give them a copy of it, but, that she trusted since I was the only one interested that I would care for it as a family heirloom. I am left with the legacy of this page. I would love to share it with any relatives of John J. CONNER of Shenendoah Co. VA.
I have the family bible and some photographs from the KITTLE-SCHERMERHORN family of Schodack and Milford NY. First entry is 1759.

While going through his deceased brothers things, my father found a WWII Shield Bible belonging to a Jack Edgar Conley, apparently from Texas. Does anyone know of such a person and where I could contact them. We would really like to return this to the family. Thank you.
