A Great Bend resident, formerly of Pawnee Rock she was a hat maker and farm wife. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Elks Lodge Auxiliary and Racquet Club all of Great Bend, the Half Century Club, Pawnee Rock and the Radium Senior Center, Radium. On Sept. 8, 1928 she married Roy Bauer Sr. at Larned. He died July 5, 1988. She was also preceded in death by brother, Benjamin and sisters, Minnie, Dewey, Joanna and Patsy. Those attending the service are requested to wear a hat in memorial to Katie.

She was a homemaker and taught English, speech and history in the Dodge City school system and substituted at Pawnee Rock. She belonged to New Jerusalem Church, Pawnee Rock; Church Ladies Auxiliary; Larned Rotary; Larned Garden Club; 20th Century Study Club; CKMC/St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary; American Legion Auxiliary; CKMC Foundation; Fort Larned Historical Society; KSU Endowment Foundation; Golden Belt Community Foundation; Golden Belt Chapter of the American Red Cross; Sunflower Training Center Board, Great Bend; HoNePaw "Cowbelles"; and the Wichita Music Theater.
