BOOTH-SANDLIN CEMETERY - Van Buren Community, Itawamba Co., MS File prepared by Nancy Parker Fruge' (nfruge@bellsouth.net . This is a very old cemetery in the southwestern part of Itawamba County. It is located on private property and sits on top of a wooded hill. The 50'x55' cemetery is fenced in barbed-wire. At this time there are only nine marked graves existing and about that many small concrete markers with no lettering. It is obvious that there are many other unmarked graves in this abandoned cemetery. Directions: Take Hwy 78 from Fulton to the Peppertown exit. Turn north on Hwy 178, then right onto the Peppertown Road. Continue for 1.7 miles, then turn left on the Carolina-Van Buren Road. Continue for 3.4 miles and there will be a Booth-Sandlin Cemetery sign on the right. This road goes to a house at the end. Beyond the grass lawn, a dirt road winds up a hill to the cemetery. Rows run from west to east and graves are recorded from left to right. The coordinates are SW 1/4, Section 23, Township 10, Range 8. Recorded by Nancy Parker Fruge' of Tupelo, MS on Nov. 20, 2003.
