The members of the Boys' Glee
Club of Wahington High School have been doing
their "bit" in the past year to
turn the eyes of the public on the activities
of the school. During the past they have not
only enlivened the assemblies but they have
also given several programs for the public
and for benefit performances.
The members gave an excellent
program at the High School Concert given by
the Band, Orchestra, and Glee Club in the
City Auditorium in December. The Glee Club
will give several concerts in the future.
The members have supported the school faithfully
and the school is proud of the organization.

Mixed
Glee Club
Yes!
The Mixed Glee Club has done praiseworthy
work in 1921. The Mixed Glee Club under the
direction of Miss Barker has not only given
fine programs but has developed into a musical
organization that is far from being classed
with amateurs. The "Wreck of the Hesperus"
and the Christmas program are worthy of much
commendation. In the Christmas program the
soloists were Bessie Chariper, Gladys Drew,
Warren Hartman, Marvin Gard, Millard Douglas
and Raymond Eyles.
The "Mikado"
is to be given before the end of the school
year.

DRAMATIC
ART DEPARTMENT
The
Dramatic Art Department is directed by Florence
S. Chapin, assisted by her sister, G. Esther
Chapin. During the past year the department
has grown to almost double its last year's
enrollment.
Several assembly plays
have been staged very successfully and artistically.
"Merry Mount," a three act drama
with a Puritan setting, was given to commemorate
the Ter-centenary of the landing of the
Pilgrims. "The
Garroters, an involved and complex comedy,
was highly entertaining. "Embers"
was appealing in its presentation of mother
love, and gave opportunity for good acting.
The department has
also furnished four minute speakers for
the Red Cross Drive, and has staged presentations
for outside interests such as the D.A.R.
and the Masonic Lodge.
The dramatic societies,
Alpha Beta Chi and Phi Sigma Psi, are supporting
the interests of the department and of the
Drama League.
"The
Lion and the Mouse," by Charles Klein,
was chosen for the Senior play. John burkett
Ryder, a wealthy railroad magnate, has brought
about the impeachment of Judge Rossmore
of the U. S. Senate. Meanwhile the Judge's
daughter, Shirley, has become engaged to
Ryder's son, Jefferson, while in Europe.
Upon returning she finds her father ruined
and not expected to live. She detrmines
to save her father, and under an assumed
name enters the Ryder home as a secretary.
After many dramatic episodes, the play comes
to a successful end. Lela Tabor as Shirley
was strong in her portrayal. Harrison Barnes
and Donald Bleakley as Ryder and his son
were both powerful characters. Lyndall Ives
as Kate Roberts, Maurice Rosenthal as Boglen,
Warren Hartman as Senator Roberts, Adele
butler as Mrs. Rossmore, and Charles Whelpley
as the Judge were all well fitted to their
respective parts.
Mr. Beard deserves
credit for the artistic setting of all plays
presented.
