CLIPPED WINGS
Wreck of an airplane used by American aviators in France, after a 500 foot drop. In this instance the lucky pilot escaped uninjured, but official reports show that 586 American aviators were killed, wounded and missing.
 
CRACK-UP
All that remained of a Sopwith plane used by Americans. This machine crashed near Tours, France, Oct. 10, 1918. The pilot was killed and the observer seriously injured. The American Air Service in France lost 271 planes.
