These words of Lieut. Commander J. K. Taussig upon the arrival of the first U. S. destroyers to join the British fleet were typical of the attitude of the whole navy. The U. S. S. Trippe is proof that what he said was true.
 
A BULL-DOG IN LEASH
Here the U. S. S. Stevens shows a different type of camouflage than that in the view above. It was not the purpose of camouflage to make ships invisible, but to deceive the observer as to its size, shape and course.
