"Apartments" in the shadow of a wrecked railway bridge used as quarters for 89th Division officers preceding the American advance into the salient of St. Mihiel. Our second line trenches were at this point until September 14.
 
THE WAR MACHINE HAS PASSED THIS WAY
The picture shows the wrecked bridge at St. Mihiel, France, and the pontoon bridge built for temporary use. All of the knowledge and skill gained in four years of practical experience were used to halt the American offensive.
