THEY GOT THE GERMANS' GOAT
American troops moving into German territory—rather French territory—which had been taken by the Germans, but from which Americans ejected them. Among their household goods the Germans had a goat—the Yanks got it.
 
THIS IS A REST CAMP
The woods where this outfit was taken after being relieved, were so littered with the refuse of war and so filled with the fumes of mustard gas that the boys decided to build their fire in the open and take the rain in the face.
