A moment's notice is all that this artilleryman required to be out of his nap and into action. The scene is a battery dugout back of the battle line in the Argonne. Wounded lying in ruins of village of Cuisy, which was behind the German lines until captured by 4th Division, September 27.
Not dead or wounded, just stealing a nap after a hard session. Members of Company B, 108th Machine Gun Battalion, 28th Division. Boureuilles, Sept. 26. Along the old lines where the consolidation of position meant the establishment of kitchens, graveyards, headquarters, and troops' dugouts in close relationship.
