An ammunition detail of the 149th Field Artillery, 42nd Division, piling up shells along the Varennes-Grandpre road, near Chatell Chehery, on Oct. 30, 1918, in preparation for the final drive to Sedan before winter set in. It was not then thought probable that the war could end in 1918.
