On April 1, 1880, the boiler at Hussong's Stave Factory in Crawford County, Illinois, exploded, resulting in the death of five men*. On March 15, 1889*, the boiler of the Springer & Lackey Mill (also in Crawford County) exploded. The photograph at left shows another Crawford County boiler explosion - that of the light plant on April 14, 1910. |
