McLENNAN - a new county in the central part of Texas, has an area of about 800 square miles. It is intersected by the Brazos river, and also drained by the Bosque, Middle Bosque, and South Bosque rivers. The surface is uneven, and consists partly of prairies. This county was formed since the census of 1850 was taken. The population is unknown, but very sparse. Capital, Waco. page 639

Seth Samuel Martin
 b. 21 August 1838 in MS.
d. 11 March 1902 in Axtell, McLennan, TX.
He is buried in the Olive Branch Church Cemetery between Axtell and Leroy, on the Heritage Parkway. He was married to Frances Adalaide "Addy" Martin in Union Church, Jefferson, MS. They came to McLennan County Texas between 1880-1890, and began their family in Axtell, McLennan, TX. Seth was a Mason and he was a Civil War Veteran. He served in the Confederacy in Co., D, 12 MS Vol. Regiment. He was captured and held prisoner of war at Petersburg.
