Gideon Gifford can be found in the BLM records buying land in Jackson County, AL. Gideon was killed by his son, William. It appears to be because of the land. There are several articles about this in the local newspaper in 1894. Gideon willed his land to his son, George (my great-grandfather). George came to McLennan County, TX about 1905. George married Sarah Emaline Matthews (sometimes referred to as Sarah E.). Emaline died in 1887 in AL. George and Emaline's son, Robert, is my grandfather. Robert, married Rachel Killian in 1912 in McLennan County.

Robert worked on the railroad between New Mexico and Mexico until he took up farming and came to McLennan County, TX. He can be found in the 1910 census of McLennan with his father George Gifford.
Robert and Rachel moved to Altus, Jackson County, OK about 1922.

William Killian was born in TN. His mother took the family to AR after his father's death. William joined company A 1st regiment of the AR Calvary in 1862. William married Lydia Margaret Meek in 1868 near Spring Hill, TX. William, Lydia and three children Ansebell b. 1870, Nellie b. 1873 and Susannah b. 1880 can be found in the 1880 Montague County, TX census. William and family moved to McLennan County in 1894. William died in 1919. William and Lydia are buried in the Gholson cemetery.
