JONESBORO - Lucille Hill, a Jonesboro homemaker, died Wednesday at a Gatesville nursing home. She was 85. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel in Gatesville, Rex Tilly officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery. Mrs. Hill was born Nov. 1,1908, in Killeen, where she grew up and went to school. She married S.E. (Red) Hill on Dec. 5,1925; he died July 20, 1975. The couple farmed in Coryell, Bell and Lampasas counties. A son, Elwood Hill, also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou Johnson of Austin; four sons, Neil Hill and Grady Hill, both of Jonesboro, Thomas E. Hill of Temple and Bobby Hill of Cranfills Gap; a sister, Ora Lee Manning of Killeen; a brother, Tommy Huggins of Gatesville; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Bessie Howard of Waco died Wednesday at a local nursing home. She was 67. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Littles & Sons Mortuary Chapel, the Rev. Wilbert Austin officiating. Burial will be at Doris Miller Memorial Park. Mrs. Howard was born Oct. 12,1926, in Waco. She was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church. She was a domestic engineer. Survivors include a goddaughter, Betty Hicks of Waco; an aunt, Lillie Burkes of Waco, and three grandchildren.
Ruthie D. Jackson of Waco, a retired Waco Independent School district teacher, died Thursday at a local hospital. She was 64. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church, the Rev. Eric H. Hooker officiating.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday. Mrs. Jackson was born June 22. 1929, in Teague. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. Survivors include a brother, Joecefus Jackson of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews. Dorsey-Keatts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
