Funeral Services Held here Monday Morning for Mrs. Susie G. McKinnie, Teacher Here 44 Years

Funeral Services for Mrs. Susie G. McKinnie, oldest teacher in point of service in Waco public schools, who died Sunday morning, were held at the First Baptist church, Monday morning, with Dr. J.M. Dawson officiating.
President Pat M. Neff of Baylor university and Dr. John E. Lattimore, a former student of Mrs. McKinnie's spoke at the services. The funeral services were carried out in accordance with Mrs. McKinnie's wishes expressed in a letter she wrote on June 23 of this year. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery, Wilkirson-Hatch in charge. Mrs. McKinnie had taught for 44 years in the same room at South Third street school, and hundreds of Wacoans received their first grade education under her instruction. She was born in Alabama and her parents died while she was a young woman. As far as friends know, she has no relative surviving. Her husband, K.A. McKinnie, a Confederate veteran, died in Waco in 1902. Active pallbearers were her former students who are Latham Downs, William Lennox, Harvey Mac Richey, Stanley Fairley, Dr. J.E. Lattimore, and Dr. W. T. Gooch.
