 Mrs. Amanda Catherine Clonts, 91, pioneer resident of the Ben Hur community, mother of Brown and Misses Hattie and Byrd Clonts of Mart, died Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at her home, Route 2, Mart. Funeral services were held Friday at 2:30 at the Littlepage Chapel, with Rev. E.R. Gordon of Graham, assisted by Rev. Lockard, pastor of the Ben Hur Methodist Church, officiating.
Pallbearers were grandsons of deceased. Mrs. Clonts was born Dec. 13, 1862 near Hiram, Ga. In 1879 she came to Corsicana, later moving to Frost moved to the Ben Hur community.  At an early age she became a member of the Methodist church, and took an active part in church work as long as her health permitted.  Three years ago she fell and broke her hip, and since that time had never been able to be out of bed.  She was a lovable Christian character and had many friends who will regret to hear of her death.  She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Clonts, three daughters, and four step children.
Survivors include the following: four sons, J.J. Clonts of Thornton, D.B. Clonts of Big Sandy, W.E. Clonts of Knox City and Brown Clonts of Mart; three daughters, Misses Hattie and Byrd Clonts of Mart and Mrs. Dora Summers of McGregor; one step-son F.P. Clonts of El Dorado, Okla.; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
