 Pearl Reed Boykin

Pearl Reed Boykin, 94, formerly of Mart, Waco, and Axtell, passed away on Friday, March 16,2001, in a Bellmead nursing home. Graveside services were held Monday, March 19, at Waco Memorial Park. Travis Smith, minister officiated. Mrs., Boykin was born August 15, 1906, in McGregor. In 1929, she was married to George Francis (Frank) Boykin. She was a housewife and was a member of the Church of Christ of Mart. Mrs. Boykin was preceded in death by her husband, George Francis (Frank) Boykin in 1968 and by her daughter, Leta Deck, in 1995. Her survivors include her son, Charles Boykin of Bedford; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.


 Mary Estaline Cox
Mary Estaline Cox, 94, formerly of Mart passed away on Saturday, March
17,2001 at Rollins Brook Community Hospital of Lampasas. Briggs Gamel Funeral Home in Lampasas was in charge of arrangements. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, at the Prairie Hill Cemetery.
Miss Cox was born June 5,1906 to parents, Oscar Wyatt Cox and Buena Vista Coker Cox, in the Victoria Community, near Mart. She attended Victoria and Prairie Hill public schools. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Belton, a Masters Degree from Baylor and a second Masters Degree from Texas Women's University. She retired after 29 years of service at Baylor University as a Reference Librarian. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mart. She had lived in the Mart - Waco area for the last fifty years. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Floy Cox and Wayne Cox. She is survived by her .sister, Viva Mae Wright of Lampasas; a sister-in-law, Altha Cox of Hurst; two nephews, Don Cox and wife Regina of Hurst and Robert A. Wright III and wife Carol; a niece. Charlotte McConnico and husband Kit of Hurst.


 Kenneth Ellis
Kenneth Ellis, 68, of Kirk, along with his son Keith Edward passed away on Monday, March 19, 2001, of injuries received in an auto accident near their home. Funeral services will be today, Thursday, March 22, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. George Wilson and Rev. Bill Smith will officiate. Burial will be in the Kirk Cemetery. Mr. Ellis was born June 21,1932 in Otto, Texas to Hubbard Autery and Willie Leonous
(Pippins) Ellis. He was a retired Sergeant with the United States Army during which time he had received two Purple Heart Medals w/*, Naval Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal w/4*, UN Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal, Pres. Unit Cit. w/*. National Defense Service Medal, and a Korean Pres. Unit Citation. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Groesbeck. He was a great fan of the Mart Panthers and was known by all of Mart's youngsters as PawPaw Ellis. He was a great man who was loved by all.
Survivors include his wife: Vera May Ellis of Kirk; one son, Kenneth Ray Ellis of Groesbeck; five daughters, Audrey Ellis of LaGrange, Annette L.
Neal of Thornton, Anita L. Lawrence of LaGrange, Kathy Fuentes of Austin and Elizabeth Ellis of Georgia; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Henrietta Vest of Clyde, Ann Erlanson of Groesbeck and Pauline McCaleb of Waco; and one brother, John Alford Ellis of Red Oak, TX. Pallbearers are Smiley Fuentes, Randy Broxton, Troy Ellis, Kenneth Waltz, Rubin Treyino, and BillyDavis. Honorary pallbearers are Bud Cooper, J.C.
Waltz, George Neal, James Queener and Arnold (Lucky) Meeks.


KEITH EDWARD ELLIS
Keith Edward Ellis, 38, of Kirk along with his father Kenneth passed away on Monday, March 19, 2001, of injuries received in an auto accident near their home. Funeral services will be today, Thursday, March 22, 2001, at 10 a.m.
at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. George Wilson and Rev. Bill Smith will officiate.  Burial will be in Kirk cemetery. Keith was born December 3, 1962, in Fort Ord, California to Kenneth and Vera May (Hoquist) Ellis.  He was an iron worker for Brown and Root and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Groesbeck. Survivors include his mother, Vera May Ellis of Kirk; one stepson, Christopher Henchord of Lake Whitney; a stepdaughter, Nicole Henchord of Lake Whitney; one brother, Kenneth Ray Ellis of Groesbeck; five sisters, Audrey Ellis of LaGrange, Annette  Neal of Thornton, Anita  Lawrence of LaGrange, Elizabeth Ellis of Georgia, and Kathy Fuentes (his twin sister) of Austin. Pallbearers are George Lawrence, Randy Cook, David Ellis, Martin Fuentes, Rodger Broxton, and Chris Garcia.  Honorary pallbearer is Dewayn Kavanagh.
