Mrs. L.R. Hill, a pioneer of the Mart community, died Sunday, May 3, 1936, at 4 p.m. She was born Jan. 24, 1858 in Shelby county, Alabama. Joined the Baptist church at the age of 16. She came to Texas when a young woman and lived a long, useful life. Deceased is survived by the following children: Mesdames Myrtle Morris of Mart; J.D. Cross of China Spring; Lee R. Simon of San Antonio; Messrs. F.A. Hill, J.M. Hill, E.L. Hill and M.L. Hill, all of Coolidge; Otis Hill of Big Spring, Lovett Hill and Sam S. Hill of Houston. Also, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. W.H. Browder of Groesbeck, and one brother, S.N. Hannah of Houston. The family came to Mart in 1901 from Groesbeck, and Mr. Hill preceded his wife in death Feb. 18, 1908. The funeral will be held Tuesday in the First Baptist Church of Mart at 3 p.m. conducted by Pastor Frank Cheavens. Interment Mart Cemetery. Littlepage in charge of arrangements. Active pall bearers: C.A. Beckham, E.E. Johnson, J.L. Spencer, Fred Hommel, Max Hommel and R.S. Chambers.

There was a large attendance Friday afternoon at the funeral of E. O'Neal, held at the Mart Baptist Church. Pastor Frank Cheavans was assisted in the service by former pastor A.J. Holt of Waco.
Out of town relatives and friends present at the funeral include: Mr. and Mrs. L. J. O'Neal of Ringold, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Martin, Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Brown, and Mrs. Barnes of Waco and Mr. and Mrs.Tom Parish of Rosse.
