 Mrs. Josephine Rhea Butler, wife of J. F. Butler, died at their home, 802 Travis avenue, Monday morning, May 15, 1939. Her passing was unexpected, caused by a heart attack after midnight from which she did not rally and was a shock to her family and friends.
Deceased was born in Douglasville,Cass County, Texas, Feb. 19, 1868.
Was married to J.F. Butler at Franklin, Tex., Dec. 17, 1889. They moved to the Mart community in 1891, before the coming of the I.G. N. railroad, from Franklin where the two older boys were born. Here they reared there family of seven children and had a worthy part of in the progress of the new town from its humble beginning.
She was a good Christian woman, a loving mother, a loyal friend, and was a devoted member of the Baptist church from early life.
Surviving are her husband, three sons, J.I. and H.R. Butler, Mart and J.S. Butler, Houston, four daughters, Mrs. C.P. Jolly and Mrs. T.N. Knight, Dallas; Miss Ruth Butler, Austin, and Mrs. Lois Barry, Lytle, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Leona Wilson, Wichita Falls and four brothers E.I. Rhea of Teague, R.H. Rhea of Fairfield, and T.H. Rhea of Tyler, also nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends who mourn her loss.
Funeral services were announced for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mart Baptist church, to be conducted by Pastor Leslie W.
