Funeral services for Cal Shelton, 80, resident of Waco for over 70 years, who died at his residence, 1000 Columbus avenue at 2:50 p.m. Sunday, were held from Compton's chapel at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Dr. Walter Anthony officiating, interment in Oakwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Will Shelton, Tom Abbott, Barrington Shelton, Shelton Gillam, Shelton Ainsworth, Roy Abbott, and Charles Sammon. Honorary pallbearers were W.W. Woodsen, Robert B. Dupree, D. Pippin, John Pippin, Allie Thomas, W.M. Sleeper, Jimmie Anderson, Dr. W.O. Wilkes,Dr. I. E. Colgin, Dr. J.R. Gillam of Mart, Sam Clinton, George Wallace and Wilson Stanford. Surviving are the following nephews and nieces, W.P. Shelton of Mart, R.L. Abbott of Waxahachie, Mrs. Frank Hanson of Dalton, Mrs. J.E. Peters of Waco, Mrs. Fannie Vessey of Waco, Mrs. Sadie Ainsworth of Marlin. Mr. Shelton was born in Lincoln County, Missouri, June 22, 1856. He came to Waco when 10 years of age and had resided here ever since that time.
