He was residing at the Mansfield Nursing and Rehab center at the time of his death. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007 in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Eastland. Burial was in the Murray Cemetery. JD was born on January 2, 1925. He served in World War II in the Navy and was wounded in the battle of IWO JIMA. JD worked in the oil fields of West Texas until 1960 when he moved his family to Carbon, where he ranched and farmed until he retired and moved to Mineral Wells, and later to Mansfield. JD is survived by his children; daughter, Susan Sitler and family of Claremore, OK and two sons, Larry Griffin of Alvin, TX and Robin Griffin and family of Mansfield, TX; 2 brothers, 4 sisters, 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. | ||

Funeral services were held on Thursday March 15, 2007 in the Summers-Bakker Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Murray Cemetery with Pastor Harry Grantz officiating. Mrs. Hale was born on December 23, 1916 to James Collie Nance and Anna Mae (Truman) Nance in Bomerton. She married Marvin James Hale in Cisco on April 1, 1939. The Hale's were blessed with two daughters, Patsy and Peggy Hale. Gladys enjoyed being a homemaker and was a member of the Carbon Baptist Church. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of over 57 years Marvin Hale on August 2, 1996. Gladys is survived by her daughters; Patsy Bryant and husband Charles of Novice and Peggy Stephenson and husband Charley of White Settlement; her brothers, Raymond Nance of Abilene and Bill Warren of Wichita Falls; her sisters, Jimmie Ervin of Abilene and Jessie Chappell of Abilene; grand-children, Kevin, Karen, Kelly, Kristen, and Tonya; and great-grandchildren, Reagan, Clayton, Kaylee, Dylan, Hannah, Cole, and Drake. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family. |

Jack was born on July 15, 1945 to Billy Love and Idenia Faye (Baker) Hallmark in Gorman, TX. He was raised in Eastland on Lens St. and graduated from Eastland High School in 1963. He married Judy Robertson on March 8, 1969 and they raised their children on S. Connellee St. Jack worked for Victor Cornelius with his father for a short time and then at Coca Cola. After leaving Coca Cola he opened a flower shop in Ranger and later another in Eastland. He was the owner/operator of Hallmark Garden Center retiring in 2004, after 21 years. Jack loved to spend his spare time hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was also a Baptist. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Billy Gene Hallmark and a nephew, David Alan Nelms. He is survived by his children, Billy Jack and wife Rebecca, James Dale and wife Kristi, Nicole and Toby Sparkman, and Joseph Paul all of Eastland; grandchildren, Josh, Ryleigh, Jayton, Jesse, Grayson, Braydon and Jenna; sister, Betty and husband Gaylon Nelms of Eastland; and several other nieces, nephews and friends. | ||
