SOUTH OGDEN --Shigeko Koga, 79, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, from complications following surgery. She was born February 23, 1923 in Onalaska, Washington,
a daughter of Kiyoyasu and Yuki and Aso Kawashima. On June 28, 1951, Shiggie married Mitsuru "Mits" Koga in Ogden. Mits preceded her in death on April 4, 2000. Shiggie was a member and served on the Buddhist Church of Ogden Temple Board of Directors;
as a President of the Buddhist Women’s Association (Fujinkai), and in many other church positions. She served as a Girl Scout Leader for over 30 years. Shiggie enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing and her grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Mike (Annette) Koga, Ogden; Wes (Debbie) Koga, Centerville; Karen (Paul) Seo, Salt Lake City; six grandchildren, Toni, Scott,
Stephanie, Katherine, Kevin and Shawn. Shiggie is also survived by two brothers, Kim (Kuni) Kawashima, Ogden; and Sam “Kawashima” , Monterey, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister, Masaye, four brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Ogden Buddhist Temple, 155 North Street, with the Reverend Jerry Hirano officiating. Friends may call at the Buddhist Temple
on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 10 to 11 a.m. Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
