Roberts, 13 June 1889 This Deed made this 13th day of June in the Year 1889, between John Roberts and Katie Roberts his wife of the first part, and Wm. J. Roberts of the second part all of the County of Smyth and State of Virginia, Witnesseth: That the parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty-Seven dollars in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged doth grant, bargain sell and convey unto the part of the second part the following tract or parcel of land, lying and being in the County of Smith containing nine acres and bounded as follows. Beginning on Jno. W. Taylors line thence N.15W.90 poles to a pine corner S.85E.20 poles to a stake, S.15E.60 poles to a white oak, corner to a survey made by Roger & with a line of same S.26, poles to a stake, in the clay lick on Taylors line & with same S.63E.13poles to the beginning. The parties of the first part warrant the title to the said tract of land generally. Witness the following signatures and seals.
