Some have questioned why the organization is named, "The Children of Shenandoah". This name was selected for us because, whether we are former residents who actually resided inside Shenandoah or descendants of those who once did, we are all from Shenandoah. This is the place where we trace our roots to. The land comprised of Shenandoah National Park sustained our people for many generations prior to the Park's establishment. We did come from her, and she did nourish us as a mother would her children. We often long to go see her, and sometimes it's the only place we can truly feel at home, because we are The Children of Shenandoah.
