Luba Fabrycky, of Blacksburg, Virginia, fell asleep suddenly in the Lord on September 15, 2007. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who will be greatly missed by many around the world. Luba was born of Russian parents in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, on June 2, 1931. She came to America with her sisters and Godparents as displaced persons in 1950; Luba loved America and the opportunity it gave her and her family. She graduated from Wichita State in 1956, became a registered Medical Technologist, lived in Fayetteville Arkansas, Stillwater Oklahoma, and then came to Blacksburg with her husband and children in 1965. Her Orthodox Christian faith defined and guided almost every aspect of her life. Out of this devotion, and on the day of her passing, Luba was sharing her Orthodox Christian knowledge with participants in the annual Greek Festival at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Roanoke. Besides her Parents and Godparents, Luba was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn Marie. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Wolter; devoted son, David; and precious grandchildren, Jonathan and Stephanie Criner. Surviving family members include her sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathryn and Ed Nikkel of Lovettsville, Virginia, Nina and Alec Seizew of Levonia, Michigan, and Maria Torkelson of Milwaukee Wisconsin; her sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth McCrae of Windsor, Vermont, Virginia and Dennis Ullery of Barton, Vermont, Jean Fabrycky of Parsons, Kansas, and Janet and Alan Fabrycky of Blacksburg, Virginia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 5 to 8 p.m., at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. The funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Huntington Blvd. N.E., Roanoke, Virginia, at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2007 followed by a graveside services at 4:30 p.m., also on Wednesday, at the Fabrycky Family Cemetery at 3900 McCoy Road just beyond Prices Fork. All arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg, Virginia. The family suggests that memorials be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Roanoke Virginia or to Saint Mary's Orthodox Church, Bluefield West Virginia.
