James Joseph O'Brien, 62, of Riner, Va., entered into eternal life unexpectedly Wednesday, December 14, 2005. James was born July 26, 1943 in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of James O'Brien and the late Josephine O'Brien, only brother to Marie Reinhold. James formerly lived in Long Island, N.Y. where he worked as a steamfitter before retiring to his beloved home in Riner, Va. James has left behind his forever loving wife of 28 years, Carol; only son Robert; daughter-in-law, Luisa; daughter, Carolyn; son-in-law, Joseph; and daughter, Colleen. He has a cherished grandson, James Eric, and was awaiting the arrival of two more grandchildren. He was known by many as an avid animal lover and a dedicated man in the equestrian community, as well as through his business "We Haul 4-U". He was a loving husband, caring father, and devoted grandfather who will be missed more than words can express. His memory shall live in the hearts of all forever. Family will receive visitors at Horne Funeral Service Sunday, December 18, 2005 from the hours of 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 1845 Cambria Street, Christiansburg, at 10 a.m. Monday, December 19, 2005 with Father Fred Hodges officiating. Interment follows at Sunset Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at Our Saviour Lutheran Church immediately following, all are welcome. Condolences may be sent to hornefuneralservice.com, online.
