Also any relatives of J.A.Millard, who was an African-American 'man-servant'
to Capt. Moses McFarland , who served with General Sherman.
Millard , according to Mary Wilbur Westcot's book Log Cabin Days of
Coit's Gore and Waterville, (publ.1975 by Royale L. Bradley, Printed by
Roscoe in Essex Junction, Vt.) was the first person to be buried in the
new cemetery in Waterville, Vt., in 1892.
Vermont, which touches on some of these interests of mine, at this
time. I have tried, as yet, unsuccessfully, to locate more information
concerning Lamoille County.I did read some informative stories that were
collected by the Council of Aging, Vermont, that raised my interest in
this area, back in the 1970's. I continue to search, so if you know of
any sources, please let me know.
Thanking you for taking the time to read, and hopefully, to respond
to this.
Sincerely,
David Melville
